Hyundai WRC junior driver Pierre Loubet’s 2021 season is over after being hit by a car.

“There’s a little change for my end of season’s program: rehab instead of finishing the WRC season”, said the 24-year-old on his social media channels today. The Frenchman continued: “You’re going to tell me, “Ohhh bad luck”, but believe me, I’m really lucky to just have a broken hip after getting hit by a car.”

More details about the incident are not revealed. Loubet is recovering and will miss next week’s Rally Spain and the season finale at Rally Monza next month as a result.

The Hyundai junior was confirmed to drive a full WRC season this year with a 2C Compétition run Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC. However, he didn’t compete in Finland last weekend and wasn’t present in Safari Rally either. Loubet’s best result this season was P7 at Rally Estonia.

Loubet’s plans for 2022 are not yet confirmed: “I can’t wait for 2022, so I can show my potential behind the wheel again.”, he said.
