Skoda Motorsport has suspended the manufacturing of new Skoda Fabia Rally2 (Evo) rally cars with immediate effect, a letter to “customers, partners and friends” signed by Skoda Motorsport boss Michal Hrabánek and Head of customer programs David Jareš confirms.
Supply chain problems related to the Coronavirus pandemic force Skoda to suspend the production of new cars. “The current problems being experienced by the global automotive industry and its supply chains as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic are unfortunately also affecting the motorsport segment.”
The letter mentions that this decision was forced “in order to ensure we [Skoda] can provide the appropriate care for our existing customers.”
Further, Skoda addreses that the shortages make production difficult and in some cases impossible. The shortages also affect the worldwide sales and distribution of spare parts of Skoda’s rally cars. As a result, the Czech manufacturer can’t accept any further orders for new rally cars. Skoda will keep its customers updated once they are in a position to return to taking new orders.
