Lappi to stay with Hyundai for WRC 2024

Lappi to stay at Hyundai for part WRC 2024 programme

Esapekka Lappi will stay at the Hyundai WRC team for next season after signing a part-programme deal with the Korean manufacturer.

Hyundai Motorsport has officially announced that Esapekka Lappi will remain with the team in WRC 2024. Lappi, who joined Hyundai ahead of the current 2023 season, will contest a part-time programme in 2024 instead of a full-time programme. The Finn scored four podium finishes this season so far, with a best result of P2 at Rally Italia.

Thierry Neuville and the returning Ott Tänak were already confirmed to drive a full-time programme next season for Hyundai. With whom Lappi will share the third car is yet to be announced. The team “will confirm its full line-up and plans in due course.”

Lappi: “Next year will certainly be different and interesting in many ways”

Lappi said: “I am very happy and grateful to continue my partnership with Hyundai Motorsport into the 2024 WRC season. I feel very comfortable in the team; we have built a fantastic connection over this past year and have demonstrated we have the package to be successful.

“I still have the will to develop and succeed in rallying moving forward, and would like to win with this team. Next year will certainly be different and interesting in many ways, which will motivate me to be a team player, as well as seek personal success, in a bid for a stronger season in 2024.”
