Acropolis Rally Greece shakedown cancelled

Thursday’s Acropolis Rally Greece shakedown has been cancelled ”due to severe weather conditions and in the interest of the safety of participants, officials and marshals.”

Heavy thunderstorms and torrential rain have forced Acropolis Rally Greece organisers to cancel tomorrow morning’s shakedown.

The Lamia region, which hosts round 10 of the 2023 WRC season, has been hit with severe weather conditions this week thanks to Storm Daniel.

All staff and crews were warned by the organisers last Sunday regarding the coming severe weather.

Recce has been conducted by the crews today, albeit with an altered schedule. Earlier today, the organisers had issued a Bulletin stating that the minimum 3 runs of shakedown was lowered to just 1 run due to the severe weather. This evening, the organisers were forced to cancel shakedown altogether.

Sunday’s Grammeni Power Stage was shortened by just over 10 kilometres as a result of the weather circumstances.

Acropolis Rally Greece is scheduled to start tomorrow evening with a Super Special Stage in the country’s capital of Athens. Athens is 200 kilometres southeast of Lamia.
