Former F1 driver Jos Verstappen is set to make his rallying debut at this month’s Haspengouw Rally in a DG Sport-run Citroën C3 Rally2.
The Haspengouw Rally (February 26) is the opening round of the Belgian Rally Championship (BRC). After the Haspengouw Rally, Verstappen will compete at the second round of the BRC at the South Belgian Rally (March 19).
Verstappen’s rallying programme after the South Belgian Rally is yet to be specified. However, the two time F1 podium finisher did mention that he is ‘looking at a mix of Belgian Rally Championship and World Rally Championship events’ for this year.
Verstappen: “Rallying is not comparable with anything I’ve done in my motorsport career, everything is new. It will be a big challenge and I don’t expect to be driving for the top places. Of course, I will do my best, but my goal is to get experience and learn as much as possible. The feeling with the Citroën is very good and I’m enjoying it a lot. That’s the most important for me.”
